Saudi Choreographer working across film and theater through dance, performance, and music.

Allaf’s practice explores the body as a site of perception, memory, expression and transformation.

Through performance, dance, and music, he explores Middle Eastern identities, practices and traditions, and investigates their intersections with wellbeing and spirituality, to create spaces for connection and celebration of people and life itself. Drawing from poetry, oral traditions, cultural memory and lived experience, he explores how inherited forms and knowledge can find new expression in contemporary life.

His creative process combines embodied research, improvisation, choreography and cinematic composition. Breath, stillness, movement, repetition, duration and rhythm become tools for exploring relationships between inner experience and the world around us. Attentive to nature and the material environment, his work invites audiences to slow down, sense more deeply and encounter familiar experiences from a different perspective.

Allaf’s experience spans original artistic work and collaborations across Saudi and international cultural contexts. He served as Show Director and Associate Choreographer for the Saudi adaptation of Mourad Merzouki’s Mosaïk, working with an ensemble of 21dancers. Developed with Institut Français, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) and Villa Hégra, the adaptation has been presented in Riyadh and in Paris and Lyon, France. He also served as Movement Director on Akram Khan Company’s Thikra: Night of Remembering, created in collaboration with Manal AlDowayan and presented with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). His work What I Heard in the Valley, commissioned by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, was presented as a 24-hour film installation at the Islamic Arts Biennale. He performed at the Saudi Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka and trained in film directing at La Fémis in Paris.

Currently, he is expanding his artistic practice through BEIT B, the contemporary dance and performance company he founded to develop creation, education and public programmes in Saudi Arabia. Its flagship programme, Move Closer, brings his research into shared movement experiences, connecting people more deeply with their bodies, their expression and one another.

Accordingly, he is developing a new creation that explores how cultural memory lives within the body and finds renewed expression through movement.
